In the recent past the Kai Iwi Lakes regatta has been the venue for the North Island Champs – a popular ranking event.
We recently became concerned that with this year’s regatta not being a ranking regatta we may not get the numbers we’ve had previously. This weeks’ survey of past Kai Iwi skippers has confirmed our concerns with just 12 boats expected to enter.
Those who have attended will appreciate the effort that goes into this regatta with all resources being carried into Kai Iwi Lakes, the Ski Club hire and the catering/meals we’ve enjoyed.
All things considered the NSRYS, in consultation with KRSC, have made the decision to cancel the regatta due to the low numbers.
For those that have entered, the NSRYS will be in contact regarding a full refund of your entry fee. We also hope this early advice will assist you in obtaining a full refund of any accommodation costs.
On the upside, this year the North Island Champs are at Kapiti on 6th and 7th April – why not come to Kapiti instead?
Kind regards
Graham Cross
