Gulf Harbour Radio Yacht Club,
DF 95 North Harbour Championship Race Officer Report
The conditions on the lake were light southerly’s, which blow straight down the lake, only
causing a short delayed start in won race, giving the competitors pretty much perfect sailing
conditions.
It was somewhat disappointing the event drew only twelve entries. On day one we had just
ten starters, sailing fifteen races. Day two, due a bereavement and a sickness, numbers
were down to eight with seventeen races sailed, making the total of thirty-two races
completed over the two days. We hope to see bigger numbers next event.
Karl Stachel was in dominate, racking up 23 wins, 4 seconds, winning with a total of 31
points. Paul Pearson was close on Karl’s heals throughout the event, with 7 wins and 11
seconds, for a total of 63 points. This was followed by Harold Bennett 102 points.
Sunday’s racing conclude with a BBQ and refreshments and a prize giving. A new DF95
trophy, made and donated by Harold Bennett, was presented to Karl and seven of vouchers,
curiously provided and thanks to Grant Lane, were presented along with a boat of wine.
Big thankyou goes out to all those volunteers, helpers and competitors who contributed to
the smooth running of the event and helping with the pack up at the conclusion.
Several competitors came forward thanking the race committee and commented on a well
run championship.
