IOM Ranking Schedule Update – August 2022

Ranking Schedule Update – August 2022

Greetings IOM skippers

A corrected IOM Ranking Schedule has been posted on the NZRYA website today.
The ranking schedule has been amended to reflect:
1. Ranking points were withheld by the NCA for the 2021 South Island Champs and the
Murray Roundtree because parts of the country were in Covid lockdown skippers
were prevented from attending these regattas. The situation was made clear to
skippers prior to these events and
2. The current ‘Ranking System 2018’ states: ‘There shall be a minimum of six (6)
competitors start in each of a minimum of Six (6) races for the event to be approved
for ranking status’. According, the 2022 Otago Champs (9 competitors and 30 Races)
qualify for ranking points and are now included on the schedule.

Just a reminder that the trophy for the IOM Ranking Champion will be awarded at the
conclusion of the Nationals at Lake Pegasus. The award is presented to the skipper with the
highest score of his/her best four regattas in the preceding 12 months – with the rider that
only one of either the North Island Champs or South Island Champs can be counted.
With four more ranking regattas to go before the IOM Ranking Champion is decided (three
of which are in the South Island) it’s all on for this award which will be presented lakeside at
Lake Pegasus along with the Nationals Champion Award.
Whilst talking about the ranking system, the NCA are reviewing the existing ranking system
with a view to introducing a revised system following this year’s Nationals. We will keep you
informed.

Graham Cross
NZL IOMNCA – Chairman.
