22nd April at Wattle.
Expectations
A bright sunny day with an 8 -10 knot south westerly and 11 majestic racing yachts guiding across the lake a bit
like “Swan Lake”.
Reality
A drizzling day with a 10 knt NNE’ly, swinging N and lighting with 9 boats.
Racing stated at 1030 with all the boats sailing with “B” rigs, Phil was the first to change to the swing rig with
Grant N following. The attrition rate was quite high, that could be expected for the boats been in storage for 2
years or so with 3 boats dropping out before lunch.
After lunch the remain boats where all sailing with swing rigs except for the first timer Terry still with the “B’ rig.
The pin was pulled after 1400 as the wind had completely dropped out but the sun was starting to show thru
the clouds after the front went thru.
I would like to thank the skippers for a great day’s sailings, Ian W for laying the marks and doing his thing with
the camera, a video will be up on the Wattle Farm Sailing website, the DF skippers Mike and Murray.
