2026 DF 65 Auckland Championship
Wattle Farm 15 August 2026
This one-day event attracted 15 boats with a good range of abilities.
Racing was conducted in a good respectful manner as one has become accustomed to in this class with assistance as observers from two DF 95 skippers. It is genuinely a pleasure to officiate.
Racing got underway shortly after scheduled 10:00 hrs and with a breeze that had settled into a South Westerly we were able to sail the whole day with only minor swapping top mark selection.
From the outset the contenders set themselves apart with Reuben setting the pace and by lunch time Kevin was comfortably in second and Trevor tied for 3rd.
After lunch Trevor decided to get serious and in the 8 races had six 1st, and one each of 2nd and 3rd. However, this was not enough to even get close to Reuben after the solid lead he had established in the morning.
So, congratulations Rueben on your Championship but also to all who contributed to a very pleasant day’s sailing.
