Race Officers’ report

2026 DF 95 Auckland Championship

Wattle Farm 16 August 2026

This one-day event attracted 18 entries with two no shows leaving a good fleet of 16 boats.

For a second day in a row we were presented with a fairly steady (direction wise) breeze from the Southwest allow racing to continue mostly uninterrupted and on time.

By lunch time Reuben had established himself as the man to beat but after seven races there was only 1 point between 2nd and 4th with Dave, Paul and Brett.

Compared to yesterday’s racing the starts were a little more competitive and after two General Recalls for Race 2 it was decided to impose U-Flag after any further General recalls.

For Race 7 there was another General so U-Flag was called. Skippers need to understand one of the reasons for the requirement to “immediately leave the course” (E3.7). If a boat remains on the course after 30.3 or 30.4 it can impede the progress of other boats. To not do so could be considered a breach of Rule 2.

Unfortunately, after lunch the breeze started to shift and eventually going to right across the lake. Having completed 11 races, and with a clear leader it was decided to call it a day.

For the second day in a row Congratulations Reuben for a very dominant performance with Paul and Brett overhauling Dave in some very close racing.

Again, thank you guys for a very good event that was easy to run.
