held at Wattle Farm 17th & 18th May 2025
Race Officer Report
The forecast for Saturday was for fine weather and a light Northerly Breeze of 4 to 8 knots.
The course was set on a slight diagonal down the pond with the top marks closer to the bank we were sailing from and the bottom marks out in the centre of the pond. We decided to go with inside out gates at both the top and bottom of the course.
With only 11 entries we sailed as one fleet.
Racing got underway at 10.45 am.
The wind remained light and shifty throughout the day but we still managed to complete 16 races.
Sunday brought North to NNW winds of 8 to 15 knots plus a bit more leading into the lunch break.
Rain was forecast for mid-afternoon so the decision was made to race through until about 2.00pm. We stayed with the same course format but angled further out across the pond with the NNW shifts.
Most of the fleet stayed on A Plus rigs but a couple changed down to standard A rig and Bob Senior even went to B Rig which looked good for about 1 lap. All went back to A Plus as the wind settled and then lightened during the afternoon.
We completed another 14 races before calling it a day just after 2.00pm which allowed the RO to recover the buoys and get the mark boat tucked away just before the rain arrived.
A total of 30 races with everyone doing their penalties with little or no argument.
Another very successful Championship.
Congratulations to Grant Lane 1st, Bill Bradley 2nd and Nigel Armitage 3rd and thanks to all competitors who really made this an enjoyable event.
Thanks also to Ian Westlake (boatman, scorer and assistant RO), Bill Bradley (Measurer) & John Porter (Result taker).
