The Wanaka Radio Sailing Club had humble beginnings in 2024, when two locals decided it was time to make the most of beautiful Lake Wanaka and launch their DF95s.
Today, the club sails DragonFlight 95 class RC yachts every Wednesday and Saturday from 1:00pm to 3:30pm, right in front of the Wanaka Yacht Club. During the long summer evenings, racing often stretches on a little later thanks to the great sailing conditions and the friendly banter shared on and off the water.
While still a relatively small club, membership continues to grow and the fleet has become both competitive and welcoming, with members always happy to share their knowledge and help newcomers get started.
Whether you’re a seasoned skipper or simply curious about the sport, there’s a place for you on the water with the Wanaka Radio Sailing Club.
